Sir David Murray has made his media comeback, demonstrating that he has lost none of his deluded arrogance after 15 years in hiding.
Once the most powerful man in Scottish football, Sir Dave’s legacy is selling Rangers for £1 to Craig Whyte 13 months before the club was liquidated.
Murray knew the background of every journalist and politician in Scotland. He knew their schooling, football preference and how desperate they were for scoops or moonbeams.
Incredibly, six months after Whyte was linked with a takeover Murray concluded the deal that killed Rangers.
Later he told a group of hand-picked reporters/messengers that he had been duped by Whyte. Not a single question was raised about that as they all relayed the message on to their readers.
And that tale summed up Murray and the death of Rangers.
A desperate obliging media wanting to be in the news loop, pass on the good news while burying the bad.
The bad news couldn’t quite be buried.
Like the mounting debt of Murray’s business empire and the reliance of Rangers on disguised remuneration to sign players that they couldn’t afford.
Friendly Gavin Masteron of the Bank of Scotland gave Murray an open chequebook/overdraft as he chased the dream of becoming the second Scottish team to win the European Cup. Like most things Murray failed.
Halifax took over the Bank of Scotland overdraft and a new £6m striker was no longer a handshake away.
When Lloyds/TSB were forced by the Government to bail out HBoS they were horrified by what they inherited.
Lloyds put David Muir on the board at Ibrox to halt the spiralling overdraft. Murray turned increasingly to disguised remuneration scams to stay competitive with Celtic.
MURRAY- THE MAN THAT SENT RANGERS TOWARDS LIQUIDATION
Murray tried to offload Rangers to every businessman in Scotland. They wouldn’t go near the toxic debt dome.
Eventually he remembered Tom Whyte, an old contact from his steel days. Tom’s idiot son worked in and around the fringes of business legality.
Murray called in his media pals led by Jim Traynor and Keith Jackson. They packaged the scruffy wee guy with squinty eyes up as a billionaire and Murray managed to dispose of Rangers. No pound coin had ever been grasped so tightly in his sweaty pALM.
As is standard among street misplaced egos there wasn’t a single meaningful question throughout the podcast.
Three over-inflated egos competed to show off who was the most intelligent. If any of them were they wouldn’t be on a podcast sharing their knowledge and know how.
Graeme Souness is trying to earn a crust from podcasting.
Simon Jordan could spend all day discussing how wonderful and insightful he is.
Jim White is reported to be devastated at missing out on an invite, TalkSPORT are providing counselling for their yellow-tied presenter from Kelvinside.
MEDIA MANIPULATION
There wasn’t a single news line to emerge from 47 minutes of self-indulgence.
Murray claimed that he was the match-maker in Michael Knighton’s takeover of Manchester United in 1989. He even claimed that at one stage he was the 50% owner of Manchester United.
Murray disposed of his Manchester United interest to concentrate on Rangers. That is the judgement of the man.
Manchester United are currently valued at £2.72 billion. 50% of that is a fair bit more than the £1 that Murray picked up for selling out to Whyte in May 2011.
Jordan did admit to considering using EBT’s at Crystal Palace but opted out as he feared that HMRC might not take kindly to the scam. He was correct.
Murray found six friendly accountants to tell him to go ahead with the EBT scam as he lured stars such as Stefan Klos, Neil McCann, Barry Ferguson, Alex Rae, Michael Ball, Kris Boyd and Billy Dodds to join or sign new contracts.
Murray paid himself £6m through an EBT.
Craig Whyte never got single mention.
It looks like Murray has rediscovered his taste for a pandering media.
Kenny Macintyre and the lads at BBC Scotland are bound to be making moves to have their hero making a guest appearance in the Sportsound studio.

A big boy did it and ran away.
It’s true so it is!
15 years later and the SMSM is still miles behind the Internet Bampots ! 🙂
That Murray cheating B*****d should be still banged up.
I Fu**in LOVE him…
Cos he MURDERED the Rangers (as they were then) !
