The midfielder scored the opening goal in the 3-1 win over Poland on Monday night as the Swedes made it two wins out of two.
Four international matches over 10 days is a cramped schedule with the chances of injury increased.
With each nation having two home and two away matches a lot of travel and hotel stays are involved with the Swedish FA monitoring their players very closely.
Club managers dread injury news during international breaks, yesterday Celtic got a variation of that coming through on Nygren.
Swedish publisher Fotbollskanalen reported:
Poland was defeated 3-1 on Monday, which means that Sweden tops its Nations League group with a maximum of six points.
The second place in the group, Bosnia-Herzegovina, awaits on Friday.
On Wednesday, the national team announced that three players were sick, namely Gustaf Lagerbielke, Benjamin Nygren and Yasin Ayari.
– Cold symptoms. They are being kept isolated so that we can keep this down to as few numbers as possible.
Will they travel to Bosnia?
– It’s too early to say. We’ll see how things develop.Do they have to be healthy to be on the plane?
– I assume they have to be. But it’s too early to say. The fact that they got sick was information that came today.
By the sound of that report the decision was precautionary.
After Friday’s match in Bosnia Sweden travel on to Romania to conclude this batch of Nations League matches.
Nygren should be back in Scotland on Tuesday giving him ample time to prepare for the match away to Motherwell on October 11.
So far this season the Swedish international has been an essential part of the Celtic midfield but after three successive defeats changes are expected.
Callum McGregor, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Luke McCowan haven’t been away on international duty which should give them extra time to prepare for a hectic run of fixtures.
Over the course of 11 days Celtic play Motherwell, Benfica, Hearts and Celta Vigo across two competitions.
After going out of the Champions League and League Cup the hoops don’t want to be slipping in the SPFL or Europa League.

Scores for Sweden the papers couldn’t give a toss
Gets a cold and the papers report it like he had the bubonic plague
Papers are liars Harold and pathological ones at that…
Please don’t keep them in employment !
