Classic strikes by Samaras and Hooper see off Dundee (video)

Neil Lennon was satisfied rather than ecstatic after last night’s 2-0 win at Dundee.

Goals in either half from Georgios Samaras and Gary Hooper gave the visitors the win to move seven points clear of Inverness Caley Thistle.

While both goals were brilliantly executed the hoops endured a testing period early in the second half during which Fraser Forster pulled off a fantastic instinctive save from a close range Colin Nish header.

“Overall I’m pleased with the performance on a difficult pitch,” the Celtic boss stated. “It was quite rutted and bobbly. We have to adapt at times better to the conditions but we had two real bits of quality to win the game.

“I had to rely on my goalkeeper to make a fantastic save. We have seen that time and time again – it was another wonderful point-blank save.

“Thankfully he was able to keep a clean sheet and we went on to win with a superb individual goal again from Hooper.

“I didn’t think we started the second half well at all but when (James) Forrest came on he just gives a better balance to the team and it’s a great win for us.”

During the first half Kelvin Wilson was involved in a clash with Dundee striker John Baird that excited ESPN pundit Steven Craigen.

The SPL’s record own goal scorer made repeated mention to his hope that SFA Compliance Officer would review the incident going as far as to suggest that Wilson could miss next week’s SPL match with Motherwell.

Responding on twitter tonight the Celtic boss said: “Very disappointed with the bias shown against Kelvin last night.”
