Scott Brown newsNot content with opening presents and training the Celtic squad has been on twitter spreading festive cheer and retweets at the end of a momentous year for the club.

The feel good factor around Celtic Park was at it’s most obvious in November when Barcelona were beaten 2-1 the day after a moving 125th anniversary service at St Mary’s in the Calton.

Brother Walfrid could have had no idea what he was starting but one thing that has remained consistent down the years has been the bond between players and supporters.

That may have become a little stretched in recent years with the influx of foreign players migrating to the most affluent areas around Glasgow but thanks to twitter the communication game, or banter, as it’s often known as is alive and well.

Two years ago Bishop Crosas was the twitter pioneer as the little known Catalan let the world know just how much he enjoyed being a Celt after moving to the club from Barcelona.

With his new found maturity and captain’s armband Scott Brown was considering a special Christmas treat for two of his younger team mates.

“Think I might dress up as Santa just to see wee James and tony faces they will be sooooo excited #broonybanter,” the midfielder tweeted yesterday.

Keeping things simple this morning Joe Ledley tweeted: “Merry Christmas everyone hope you have a lovely day. Love u all

There wasn’t much festive excitement among the current players as they kept their tweets to the sort of message you would read in a Christmas card.

Typically Gary Hooper tweeted: “Merry Christmas everyone.. Have a good one.” with Victor Wanyama adding: “ I wish you all Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.”

Adam MatthewsAdam Matthews seemed more excited as his partner Hollie Thomas presented him with two framed jerseys from a year to remember.

“Merry christmas to everyone! Hope you all have an amazing day,” he tweeted followed by: “Buzzing with my presents.”

New dad Kris Commons tweeted: “Merry Christmas everybody. Hope u av a lovely day,” before signing off with: “ Right twitter action suspended for the remainder of the day…..my boy is finally up!!! “

Former winger Bobby Petta was original with: “Helping mum with Dinner and trying to watch Ben Hur Lol? merry Xmas again.”

Merry Christmas to the Celtic family.

I’d like to take this opportunity to say I love bein Scottish and I love, I love being a Celtic fan. I love all u celts out there – the Craic is great and there is simply no one like us.

Football without the fans in nothing.

A great man once said that about a club…that man knew his stuff…the rest is history.
