BBC man gets Ibrox job

|

BBC Scotland news

The strange twisted relationship between Sevco and the BBC took another turn  last night when Chic Young hosted a cosy Question and Answer session with Ally McCoist and Charles Green in the Thornton Suite at Ibrox.

When it comes to matchdays Young and his BBC colleagues aren’t allowed to speak to anyone at the club after they got upset the club  earlier in the season.

Despite that the BBC give almost round the clock coverage to the Third Division side taking the moonbeams from Green at face value rather than demolishing them.

Up until the turn of the year the BBC provided a well paid platform for James Traynor to audition for the role of communications director at Ibrox defending the club he was seeking employment from at every turn against the few journalists and presenters at the BBC who weren’t toeing the club line.

While a relationship with a well-supported Glasgow club is essential for a commercial operator to retain audience or readership the state funded BBC don’t live in that world allowing them to pick and choose whichever club or issue they wish to pour their resources into.

With the doors of Ibrox slammed shut the various teams from the BBC could divert some of their resources towards the incredible success of Queen of the South or the closely fought battle between Morton and Partick Thistle at the top of Division One.

Reality however suggests that the BBC are bending over backwards to get back into the inner circle at Ibrox with Traynor in a position to negotiate a deal.

Young isn’t an employee of the BBC but is one of their top earners with the added perk of regular foreign travel from the licence payer.

Perhaps his appearance alongside Green and McCoist will restore the usual cuddly relationship between the two organisations or maybe the lifelong St Mirren fan was auditioning to join his former Airdrie supporting colleague Traynor on the Ibrox payroll?

    Hey,hey,hey chick young here…..tosser!

  • mark says:

Thankfully he’s one of them- we’ve knew for years he’s a current bun the little crawling rodent that he is only Jim white beats him in the arse licking department HH

    • Monti says:

      Correct

    • eastside says:

Puppets and cheerleaders, cowards and appeasers, it’s what they do and what they are. Men without an iota of self respect.

      • yogI says:

unfortunately, eastside that could describe some, possibly most of our ex celts in the media. They take the Masonic coin but there is a price to be paid, and they pay it.

    • Joe Murray says:

As much a I want to Shite in my owns eyes whenever Jim White is in tv, at least he has always admitted being a currant bun unlike all the others. This must be the only country where the majority of sports journalists, especially the ones from Glasgow, don’t “support” Celtic or them. Britney is also an exception.

  • joe says:

its a pity scotland isn’t policed by the english at least they wouldn’t be so afraid to dole out the punishment , I used to think bigotry was worse here in belfast but seriously scotland takes the biscuit , where else would you get behaviour like it , libya? iraq? surely not in a civilized country or should i say so called , I mean would you call the zombies civilized ? …pfft

  • Tony B says:

joe. This is the reason why we must do everything in our power to oppose independence. If you think things are bad now, imagine what it would be like in a nationalist separate Scottish dictatorship, with the likes of the anti Catholic Christine Grahame et al keeping us in our rightful place.

    • Monti says:

Good luck to Wales tonight!!! FTSFA!

    • Joe Murray says:

If Scotland gains independence, there would have o be a vote to see which party makes up the government. Adolf Salmond can’t expect to just waltz straight into the job. Although I suspect that’s exactly what he will expect.

    • John Dunne says:

Here here, Scotland the most bigoted wee country in the world. Run by bigots for bigots

      • Kendo88 says:

Correctamundo! And we should have no more to do with it. Time Celtic go out! Anywhere don’t care where HH

  • Mike Bhoyle says:

Why do we appear to be continually “surprised” by this..?
BBC Scotland’s Sport’s Dept….had for many many years….( may still have)…a no Catholic policy.
People like Young….Traynor…and fat Dougie “the Hun” Donnelly…are all classic examples of cowards…
St.Mirren/Airdrie/and Clyde are the “badges” they hide behind….feckin’ cretins.
If you’ve done no bad in your life without any help from “sinister” organisations…or “funny handshakes”…be proud..be VERY proud of yourself.
We don’t need these imbeciles…ignore them.

  • Scott Mackenzie says:

Guys lets not get carried away here independence has nothing to do with the snp or the irrational hatred for them buy some. a vote against independence is a vote for unionism – to do so means you will be joining all your rangers unionist brothers in govan. also a vote for independence is not a vote for the snp. you can still easily vote labour when the elections roll around (despite their constant lies and illegal wars). the football act was invented in good faith to stop the bad aspects seen in football grounds – it has been a monumental disaster since, but it can and probably will be revoked shortly.

    • mark says:

The bill is there to vicimise Celtic supporters and even up the score because the huns couldn’t sing there sectarian songs ( although it hasn’t stopped them and even has the thumbs up from mcaskill ) and we were still singing about Ireland that’s the one and only reason the bill is there HH

    • The fu99ie Dew says:

There were sufficient powers availible to deal will anti social behavior at football grounds and in the daily theatre of life, problem was Celtic fans couldn’t pulled up on charges unlike the vast numbers of rangers fans (who never did get pulled up).
So if you think voting Independence will make the garden rosy, think again – The parties will change but the polics in motion will roll on.
A vote on independence needs to be informed, not just “I’m no voting for the union as im no billy”!
Your future depends on an informed vote.

    • Jimbo102 says:

Spot on Scott. Given the choice of being governed by a democratically elected socialist government in a free nation or be continually governed by an imperialistic, right wing, capitalist foreign government, then I know we’re I stand.
It amazes me that Scotsmen who support a Scottish team in a Scottish league can turn round and pray for the defeat of the Scottish national team?????
By all means take hummbrage with the SFA and god knows we’ve got plenty of ammunition against them but for gods sake get behind the team who after all are representing every single one of us.
Maybe it’s because I grew up watching the home internationals and us getting to World Cup’s that I also stick with the team through the bad times. To those who have never experienced it, imagine how you felt beating the Huns, now treble that and your getting near to what it was like to beat Engerlund especialy at wembley.
C’mon Scotland lets get a result tonight and give WGS a winning start. Hail hail

      • Kendo88 says:

Mhate Celtic stand alone in this place got no affiliation with scotland. Are we talking about the same sfa that could only give the great incomparable jimmy Johnstone 23 caps?!.. C’mon they don’t like us or want us cause its zombie nation and i couldn’t give because the rest of the world loves us. Everywhere we go we are welcomed with open arms making friends of all nationalities and cultures except in this backwater. For me and 10s of thousands Celtic is our club our culture our everything..they represent who we are with No need for bigoted corrupt sfa select team. Hail hail to every bhoy and ghirl in
        Celtic land

    • mark says:

If salmond has anything to do with it a think I will not bother scotland us rotten to its core with handshakers from top to bottom a shite stain on this planet, Catholics and Celtic supporters in general haven’t got a chance and thinking once It’s independent from English rule that it will be better makes me cringe it won’t get better it will only get worse HH

  • yogI says:

Absolutely Correct Scott,The machinery that will come into play if and when there is a yes vote in the referendum is as you accurately explained.I would fully agree with Mike as regards the Bigoted BBC,I well remember the stance they took and I suspect it still stands.Be encouraged Mike that the Demise of the BBC is coming and the King soon will have no robes.

    • Monti says:

you are fkn delluded my friend!

      • yogI says:

only person on this site who is delude is you,and I am no friend of yours,I am pretty selective who I talk to .

      • mark says:

A like you monti a man with the right principles for supporting Celtic HH

        • yogI says:

You and your mate, monti, would get more respect if you stopped the swearing and personal onslaught on anyone on this site who holds an opinion different from you two.To continually call good Celtic people effen huns because they have an opinion foriegn to yours is grossly offensive and shows you to be the Immature people that most people on this site view both of you to be.If you want respect, earn it.

        • mark says:

Yogi the only guy having a go at Celtic fans is you and we have a good record when it comes to zombie spotting on here and if I think there huns I will say it ok pal HH

  • mike bhoyle says:

Who remembers Peter Thomson of the BBC…?
    Bitter wee Hun…
He stopped his car late one night in Nitshill to ask directions to Greenock from my mate…..
My mate: “Are you Peter Thomson from the BBC?”…
    PT:”Yes…I am….”
Mate: “Then find yer ain fuckin’way to Greenock”….
    True story that…

    • Jimbo102 says:

Lol, correct me if I’m wrong but to my knowledge the only ex Celt on the BBC’s punditry list is Murdo MaCleod????

      • yogI says:

Aye,but it is a mason who never misses a meeting ,and that is a fact.I get reminded from a workmate who regularly meets up with macleod in Milngavie masonic.By the way mike,Seem to recall Big Jock pulling the place right about Thomson In the early seventies for his open antI celtic mutterings.

        • Jimbo102 says:

It’s got me thinking, the young team think its bad now with Jabba the Fud and Chico “sir Minty” Young but I think you’d agree yogI we’ve seen it all before with messrs Archie “Rrrrrrangers” McPherson and Alex “ibrox is my home” Cameron. At end of the day they are where they deserve to be, bankrupted, disgraced bottom tier club and we are where we deserve to be financially solid, top 16 European team and Scottish champions. Hail hail

  • NoPretender! says:

it sure can be no pretty sight to gaze upon an asshole with a cluster of protruding hemorrhoids peering out from its anal canal…the ghastly visions of ibrox!

  • yogI says:

Amen to that Jimbo.God Bless You .Once again I am being called a hun from wee boys who cant win a point without name calling.I am regularly called a Zombie, these guys need to grow up.You will well remember when we couldnt get work because the Application form asked what school did you go to.This is now illegal thank God,and younger ones of our persuation do not encounter this.I hold the same view as most of us re.Them.When Thomson of the BBC was ill and coming to the end of his life, jock stein made a point of contacting Thomson and made his peice with him. Some the people who follw our team today make me cringe and I love The Celtic now as The first time I set eyes on the Hoops Shirt.Thank You for your kind words Jimbo .

  • Joe says:

Just remember you are all about to vote this mentality in for an “indpendent Scotland”! Independent my ass! You better all think tis through before you ake a rod for our believing backs. This country will only getwrse foe catholics and Celtic fans if the vote goes their way. Just be carefulwhat you wish for! It is bad enough today!

    • mark says:

Saying stuff like that makes you a unionist on here mate, your bang on the money scotland is anti catholic anti Celtic and it will only get worse once It’s on It’s own HH

    • Jimbo102 says:

For gods sake Joe, enough with the “weary wullie” stuff. How about giving us coherent explanation of why you don’t want independence.
I’ll give you my starter. I WANT independence because I’m sick of being governed by people who treat our country like a banana republic.

    • NoPretender! says:

as much as i despise the brittish empire, you make a valid point.

  • Windsor Tim says:

If you vote against independence you are voting for nothing to change, are you happy with to-days policies?.
Vote for independence, let the trolls be brought into the light of day. Look what happened to them when their club was brought into the open, it died a death. Nothing happens overnight, but change does come about.

  • mark says:

Can you believe this blog started with chic young hosting a night at the scrappy and now It’s about the politics of scotland Haha HH

  • Paulo says:

    Pathetic

  • Kenny says:

Monti – do you recall Margaret Curran (Labour) calling for HMRC taking it easy on Rangers also or does your hatred for the SNP make you blinkered.
It always amazes me how my fellow Celtic fans can eulogise about a united and free Ireland from Westminster rule, but you would see Scotland shackled.
Get your Union Jacks at the ready and join your unionist brothers

    • Monti says:

Pmsl lmfao,Kenneth anybody who knows me will tell you what I would do with a union jack if it was in front of me,I WANT INDEPENDENCE FFS!! I would prefer a Labour government to run the country! I need more info on the benefits of becoming independent first! I don’t hate the SNP but I dislike Salmond,he’s not to be trusted! You cannot draw wanting independence for Ireland but not Scotland, when I do!! Hope I didn’t swear there, I wouldn’t want to offend Yogi the bear!

      • yogI says:

you are a clown pure and simple.

      • Kenny says:

Good to hear Monti, as that is the raison d’etre of the SNP, it’s to gain independence and then it will be up to the population of an independent Scotland to choose which party best suits it’s needs and aspirations.
At the moment the Labour party in Scotland are controlled by their London masters who couldn’t give a flying feck about us in ‘North Britain’ and are getting closer to Tory values every day.

You may not trust Salmond, but you wouldn’t be voting for him, there are other political parties who want independence too; and it’s hard to get the info of the benefits of independence when you have a state broadcaster -BBC- who is clearly biased for the unionist cause, as is the print media, but there are websites out there slowly getting the message across.

  • mark says:

BREAKING NEWS…….monti goes tonto on video celts Haha don’t hold back mate if you think there’s a hun call it mate lol HH

  • paranoidandroid says:

Like my Irish granny was, I too am worried about how much power the masons might have in an Independent Scotland. I’d love Scotland to be Independent, but fear of the dodgy handshake fools could stop me voting for it.

Lord Nimmo Smith’s ruling and a few other things have left me in no doubt about how much power a dodgy handshake still has in Scotland.

The vote for Independence doesn’t offer a great choice really: bigoted, hate filled masons who’d destroy their own country before giving up one iota of their seedy power or posh-boy fascists who hate ordinary people and would destroy the NHS in a heartbeat.

But, as I need to keep reminding myself, the apron wearing goat-botherers have done pretty well under the union. They’re the biggest bunch of wasters on the planet. Everything they touch turns to shite. They’ve all but destroyed Scottish football- and, ironically, they’ve killed their own team- but they still see it as some kind of victory for the chosen few. However, they’ve done all of this in the United Kingdom. So I’m just not sure what way I’m going to vote.

One more thing, it really disturbs me when Celtic supporters slag off the Scotland team and say they hope they lose. My Irish connections are as good as anybodies, who wasn’t actually born in Ireland, and genetically, I’m as Celtic as they come. But Celtic means being Scottish and Irish.

Celtic is a Scottish team with strong Irish roots. And I’m a Scottish person with strong Irish roots. Unfortunately, especially after last night, I’m stuck supporting Scotland. It’s not a choice. It’s in my blood; I just have to do it.

Scotland is my team. It doesn’t belong to the SFA, who I’ve always despised, or the bigots, who I despise and who have brought our game to it’s knees in their efforts to make one club dominate. It belongs to me. And it belongs to everyone who lives in or was born in Scotland.

Dont leave our national team (or one of our national teams) to the bigots and wasters.

    • Davie bhoy says:

Spot on mate,we should’nt let the Huns and their bigotry stop us supporting Scotland cause that’s exactly what they want, only came to this realisation when I got a wee bit older, personally can see the tide turning a wee bit with more saltires seen at CP in recent years than when I started going in early 90s

      • Kendo88 says:

Sorry lads Couldnt give a toss about Scotland can never relate to this country. Especially in light of goings on in in zombie nation in last year or so. Proud of irish roots but Celtic override everything they represent me they provide all the pride and identity I need. They symbolise who we are..heritage, culture.. Our inspiration much much more than club. As Tommy Burns said ” When you pull on that Celtic jersey, you are playing for a people and a cause” .Irrespective of Politics We stand alone in this backwater need to get out..the world loves us except for this bigoted filled land. HH

        • Davie bhoy says:

That’s up to you mate, the Huns want to alienate Celtic fans and Catholics from supporting Scotland and it worked on me when I was young when I had more affection for the Eire national team rather than Scotland’s team, today that’s in total reverse the Huns won’t stop me supporting Scotland, getting beat home and away off Wales might though ha

        • Kendo88 says:

Each to their own but i am heart and soul Celtic. To use an old Latin word ” Omni”: everything/all. They are all I need. If it is was possible my passport would state resident of Celtic 🙂 hail hail

        • Jimbo102 says:

Total respect kendo88, whatever floats your boat but just a wee reminder Tommy also said the same about wearing the dark blue of Scotland hail hail

  • yogI says:

Good Wishes to Michael Owen,A Good Celtic Man.
