Malky MackayCardiff owner Vincent Tan has backed down from his threat to sack Malky Mackay.

Last Thursday it emerged that Tan had sent an email to the Cardiff boss telling him to resign or be sacked. Mackay ignored the warning and has been given overwhelming backing from Cardiff fans and the wider football community.

Neil Lennon, Brendan Rodgers, Arsene Wenger and Davie Moyes were among those that expressed their amazement at the situation forcing Tan to back down.

Using Mehmet Dalman to explain the u-turn the Cardiff chairman said:My definition of diplomacy is to create space for dialogue. I have spoken to Vincent Tan and he has agreed I can go into bat to try to bring a solution to this situation.

“The important thing is that we try to find a way through this predicament. There’s goodwill on Vincent’s side. I’ve not had a chance to talk to Malky just yet, but I will obviously do that as well. We need to have further dialogue to see if we can get through this together for the good of the club, which is the most important thing.

“We managed to create space for everyone to work together back in October and we have to see if we can do that again in order to move forward. At least we have a platform for dialogue, which gives us an opportunity to try to work our way through this.

“If we wish to work towards a reconciliation, Vincent Tan has offered us that opportunity to move towards that. If it works, it works. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t but at least I as a responsible person and Chairman of this football club have tried my best.”

Dalman added: “I’m not taking sides in this, I’m just trying to do my best for the good of the club.  Let’s see if we can fix it. We can’t keep having the club under a cloud, so this is it. We managed to get two or three months leeway last time and we need to create something similar again. I’m not putting a time scale upon this, but we have to try.”

It’s unlikely that Mackay and Tan will be together in the long term but after standing his ground the former Celtic defender has forced an embarasing climbdown by the club owner who heard for himself the views of the fans as they changed their support for Mackay during the 3-1 defeat at Liverpool yesterday.

Malky’s coat is definitely on a shoogly nail but he’ll come out on top through being a likeable bloke and good at his job. Like all managers though, he will ultimately be sacked or leave for a better position. In this case any job is a better position!

chairman dalman, “not spoke to Malky yet, if it doesn’t work, I tried. ”

What utter nonsense. If I was Big Malky I
would get both of them in a room, and
show them what a Glasgow kiss looks like.

Mallky’s days are numbered, every game is
    a pressure game.

I would love Mr.Tan to sell Cardiff, and buy Sevco.
For starters, a change of strip from blue
to red again. The Zombies would freak !
