Celtic v FC Shakhter Karagandy - UEFA Champions League Play-offs: Second LegKris Commons continued his remarkable recent scoring run with the breakthrough goal against Hearts as Celtic maintained their unbeaten SPFL record.

After a goal-less first half Celtic stepped up the pressure on the Gorgie mob by bringing on James Forrest with Nir Biton’s defensive midfield role virtually redundant.

In the 64th minute Commons found himself one-on-one with Jamie McDonald and showed his usual strikers instinct to slot the ball beyond the keeper into the net.

Eight goals in his last five domestic matches have underlined Commons value to Celtic with the £300,000 paid to Derby County in January 2011 looking increasingly like Neil Lennon’s best piece of business as hoops manager.

After 16 matches Celtic remain unbeaten in the SPFL and finish the year with away days at St Johnstone and Inverness Caley Thistle.

Yesterday the Perth side earned a point away to Hibs to leave new manager Terry Butcher still waiting to celebrate his first win since moving to Edinburgh.

Butcher’s replacement in the highlands, Yogi Hughes, saw the best and worst of his side as they lost 4-3 at home to Aberdeen.

At half-time the visitors were trailing 4-0 but some well chosen words from the new boss sparked a revival with Aberdeen grateful to escape with full points after losing three second half goals.

The defeat for Inverness creates a three way tie in second place with Aberdeen and Dundee United joining the highland side ten points behind Celtic.

After their recent goal festivals the Tannadice side were grateful for a single goal from Gary Mackay-Steven to edge them past Ross County.

    I agree, Joe.

Chris has been a great signing. It appears
he also has a real passion for our club.
But at 30,he needs help.in the creative dept.
When he is on song Forrest is a great
    provider and scorer.
However,we need a silky no.10,to supplement Chris and Jamsie’s good play.

It’s great that we have our midfielders scoring like this.

But when you read about young Tony Watt clearly unhappy in Belgium, why not bring the kid back where he wants to be and get him in the side? We have a potentially prolific goalscorer of our very own. Give him a chance to show what he can do to end the striker goal famine.

Sending people out to get experience is one thing, but sending them someplace they can’t settle or be happy is a big mistake. Improve his surroundings. Bring him back and welcome him back to Paradise and play him in every game until the end of the season. When the qualifiers come around, we have our man and he costs us nothing. Big Tony deserves the chance.

Few players who go out on loan ever come back better players and their lack of happiness can be a lot to do with that. Give us big Tony up front and you will see our forwards can score goals too.

      Joe,

I don’t dispute TW qualities as a striker.
He is better than Stokes and Pukki put
      together.
However, the story is attitude was all wrong. He was lazy at training, moody and
      huffy.Basically being a pain in the a—.

He also thought he was billy big balls, not
      signing autographs etc.
So,if you are not a team player you are no
      use to anybody.
His stint in Belgium only confirms this.

      • Joe McHugh says:

The second and third hand stories about Tony Watt are miles from reality.

He is a normal 19/20 year old who has everyone looking at him and desperate to create a story.

If 10% of the stories about him were true how on earth did he get through the system to play for Airdrie Utd at 16, score for Celtic on his debut at 18, score for Scotland at u-19, u-20 and u-21 as well as play and score for Celtic as an 18 year old in the Champions League as an 18 year old.

Don’t believe the jealous Chinese whispers.

    Points taken,Joe Mc.

Re- attitude, can’t be bothered with fans,
    are first hand factual stories.

    However,he does deserve another chance
    as his strength,power,directness and
goalscoring ability are assets our team
    could be badly doing with.

Happy and Hoopy Christmas to all the Celtic family. HAIL HAIL
