Borna Barisic appears to have finally found a way out of Ibrox.

Signed from Osijek by Steven Gerrard in August 2018 after playing against the Ibrox Tribute Act in a Europa League qualifier, there has been a number of near escapes over the years for the Croatian internationalist.

Speculation of moves to Juventus and Roma turned out to be as realistic as ‘Barcelona swoop for Morelos’ in January 2023 Watford were linked with a more realistic £2m offer following the World Cup Finals in Qatar.

After arriving in Glasgow Barisic became very friendly with Jozo Simunovic and Filip Benkovic, over time he would grow to hate visits to Celtic Park as Liel Abada ghosted him for a number of vital goals.

There is still the prospect of one more trip to Celtic Park on May 11 but next season Barisic will be starring in Turkey when the Glasgow Derby is underway.

The Record reports:

Trabzonspor have agreed a deal to sign Borna Barisic and are confident of landing John Lundstram after Rangers’ domestic chase is over.

The Turkish side have put lucrative offers on the table for the out-of-contract Ibrox pair. A deal has been thrashed out with the Croatian international, 31, and he is expected to sign a two year deal in the summer, with an option of another 12 months.

The story comes from Scott Burns who has a more credible record that Keith ‘Saudi’s swoop for Tav’ Jackson.

This season Barisic has started 16 SPFL matches and nine European ties but has been dropping out of the picture.

Ridvan Yilmaz seems to be Philippe Clement’s preferred left-back but the young Turk has only started 15 SPFL matches with Micky Beale leaving him out of his Europa League squad.
