Celtic will have to pay at least £5m to sign Adam Idah on a permanent basis this summer.

The striker arrived on loan in the closing stages of the January transfer window without any option to convert the move into a permanent deal.

Expectations from supporters were low, based mainly on the summer recruitment overseen by Mark Lawwell but identified and driven through by Brendan Rodgers the young Irish striker has scored some significant goals.

Idah looks like the perfect replacement for Giorgos Giakoumakis who left Celtic last February with negotiations expected to see if a deal can be struck with Norwich.

Former Celtic View reporter David Friel retains strong contacts at the club, in February 2021 he came up with the exclusive news that Neil Lennon was leaving 10 hours ahead of the Stock Market announcement.

In the Sun tonight, Friel writes:

CELTIC will have to stump up at least £5million to land striker Adam Idah this summer.

SunSport understands that’s the minimum price tag Norwich City are set to slap on the on-loan Republic of Ireland star.

Idah still has four years remaining on his Norwich contract but is expected to be allowed to leave for the right fee.

Canaries chiefs believe he is worth at least £5m but much could depend on the level of interest in the powerful striker.

Italian top-flight side Hellas Verona came close to a January loan deal before Idah agreed a move to Celtic.

The Norwich man is also likely to have other suitors in the Championship come this summer.

As well as a deal with Norwich Celtic would have to satisfy Idah that he has a significant role to play under Rodgers.

Since arriving in Scotland three years ago Kyogo Furuhashi has been first choice striker whenever he has been fit other than a brief period in late February and early March where Idah was selected.

In recent years Celtic have squandered fortunes on strikers such as Patryk Klimala, Marion Shved and Albian Ajeti, even at £5m Idah looks like good value and appears to be enjoying his move to Scottish football.

Celtic FC took on Jota Neves permanently in the summer of 2022
for 6.5 mill Pounds. 5 mill Pounds for Adam Idah is a resonable starting point for negiotating. It won’t take long for Vata to be as good
as Tom Rogic was towards the later stage of his time at Parkhead.
Rocco is now regarded as a second Striker for the B team. That’s important when Kyogo or Idah become injured.

His current estimated value by Transfermarket is 2.8 million – Euros!
    “At least £5 million”
could be anything between £5 million and the stars are your limit!
That is at least twice his current market value.
Where do they get these stories from?
Think of a number and double it?!
