Ronny DeilaGoals from John Guidetti and Stefan Scepovic against Kilmarnock helped Celtic into fourth place in the SPFL and gave the hoops faithful some signs of progress.

The sending off of Manuel Pascali contributed to the win with the Killie skipper left exposed by a great through ball from Callum McGregor who seemed to thrive with two strikers playing in front of him.

While far from the high tempo flowing football that Ronny Deila has been aiming for the sight of strikers converting chances was a welcome one with the hoops boss pleased by the result.

“The strikers are scoring, that’s positive,” Deila said. “They all had chances, we created a lot of chances and again we just controlled it and saved some energy for Wednesday, which is an important match.

“Guidetti and Scepovic showed that they can do it but, again, it’s the first time they have played together. We have to give them more matches but we can see that they are dangerous together and want to score goals and they did that today. We will get a lot of goals from those two.

“We will do different things and we have done that the whole season but it depends on the opponents and where we play, so today it was good to see how they are together.

“We have things to work on but you can’t criticise them when they’ve scored two goals.

“There are so many matches, so you need to do some rotation  and we did it today. We had three new players, which is less than the other times after Europe, and you find something will always happen.

“Anthony Stokes had an ankle problem and couldn’t play so we need the whole squad to get us through the competitions we’re in, and in time Guidetti and Scepovic will play a lot together and hopefully get better and better.”
