David MurrayCraig Whyte has warned that there are further explosive issues to come to light over the liquidation of Rangers.

The former billionaire appeared in court last month regarding his role in events at Ibrox but insists that he has nothing to worry over and manages to sleep well.

Whyte bought the debt ridden institution from Edinburgh based tycoon Dave Murray for £1 in May 2011 and was welcomed with open arms at Ibrox as the saviour capable of fending off Neil Lennon’s Celtic.

Nine months later the Ibrox club were placed into administration- followed by liquidation in June 2012- with Whyte painted as the villain of the piece.

Murray later claimed that he was duped into selling to Whyte but it seems that it was the man from Motherwell who paid the price as he inherited the unpaid wee tax case and the still to be decided Big Tax Case.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun about whether Rangers (IL) fans would change their mind on his role Whyte said: “You can never say never because never is a long time. Hopefully when the facts come out, and they will in this process, people might form a different view.

“There are complex issues but things will come to light that will be explosive in many ways.”

Whyte’s habit of taping his conversations should make the court cases relatively straightforward with much of the detail revealed on line through the Charlotte Fakes twitter accounts.

Following his coronation up the marble stairs of dignity things quickly turned sour for Whyte as the club- despite a summer spending spree- crashed out of two European competitions before the end of August.

Despite that massive financial blow Whyte turned down a £15m bid for Nikica Jelavic to help Ally McCoists bid for glory.

Rangers (IL) raced into a 15 point lead over Celtic but under the slightest pressure McCoist panicked with Lennon overturning a 15 point deficit in just eight weeks!

“I bought a company that was bankrupt for £1,” Whyte admitted ruefully. “Rangers were already completely bankrupt at the time when I got involved.

“All I did was step in to try to rescue a situation that was already way beyond. It was my intention to take it forward as a business and not to see it in the sorry state it is in at the moment.
“Champions League would have been a bonus but if Rangers had got into the Europa League they would not have gone into administration that season.”
