Celtic will hold more talks with John Guidetti’s agents this week.

The 22-year-old has emerged as Ronny Deila’s best signing and is out of contract with Manchester City at the end of the season.

After a disappointing loan spell at Stoke in January the striker quickly found his feet at Celtic banging in 11 goals in domestic matches since he arrived on the final day of the transfer window.

Getting Guidetti onto a permanent contract would be a major coup for Deila who is upbeat about the situation.

“There has been some movement on Guidetti,” the Celtic boss revealed. “Hopefully that’s encouraging. If it wasn’t, I don’t think he’d want to meet us, so it’s positive.

“There is no problem with his club Manchester City. It’s now about getting the player on board.”

Guidetti has refused to discuss anything to do with his contract insisting that it’s upto his agents to work out the best deal.

Marseilles have been credited with an interest in the striker and hopefully took in his nightmare performance at Motherwell last week!

After being ineligible for the Europa League due to mistakes by the SFA Guidetti will be available for the last 32 of the competition in February which is shaping up as the critical month in Celtic’s season.

Cup ties with Sevco and Dundee kick the month off alongside back-to-back Europa League ties on February 19 and 26 will go a long way towards determining whether or not the season is deemed a success.
