spflCeltic can go six points clear at the top of the SPFL tomorrow by beating St Mirren.

Home defeats for Dundee United and Inverness Caley Thistle have opened the door to Ronny Deila’s side as they chase their seventh league win on the bounce.

The Celtic manager was at Tannadice with John Collins to watch a first half double from Adam Rooney give Aberdeen full points to lift them onto 31 points alongside Jackie McNamara’s side.

“My disappointment is losing our home record,” the United manager said. “We’d been unbeaten so far but we have a tough test at home to Celtic next week and we’ll need to defend set-pieces better. We’re disappointed with a lot of things to be honest.”

While United were losing 2-0 at home the roof caved in on Caley Thistle as they were thumped 4-0 at home by Partick Thistle.

John Hughes’ side have had a strong defensive record this season but had no answer to Thistle who put some clear blue water between themselves and the bottom three with the win.

“I’m not going to hammer them because they’ve been absolutely fantastic so far this season,” Yogi said. “But all the credit has to go to Partick. They were the best team from the first minute to the last.

“Marley (Watkins) should have scored his one-on-one and that could have changed the game. Take nothing away from them. They were better than us on the ball and to the second balls.”

Elsewhere in the SPFL new Motherwell manager Ian Barroclough watched his side draw 2-2 with Ross County, Kilmarnock lost 1-0 at home to St Johnstone and Hamilton Accies beat Dundee 2-1.
