Tom-RogicTom Rogic was on the end of a World Cup shock when Australia lost 2-0 away to Jordan.

The defeat knocked the Socceroos off top spot in Group B at the halfway stage of the group after opening up with three wins against Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Rogic was substituted by Tim Cahill midway through the second half with Jordan scoring their second goal in the 87th minute.

It was just disappointing to concede the first goal, it came from a long ball and we spoke about being wary of that,” manager Ange Postecoglou said after the match.

Once they got a goal up the game became a little chaotic and we couldn’t get into any flow. We had a couple of chances but overall we lost control of the game.

At the start of the second half we just lost concentration. Unfortunately we didn’t adjust and we conceded.

When you come to a place like this, the first goal becomes critical. And you can’t get any flow in the game after that. And it gets frustrating for the players.”

Next month Australia host Kyrgyzstan before travelling to Bangladesh on World Cup duty.

Also on Friday, Australia’s u-23 squad (Olyroos) lost 2-0 in a friendly to South Korea with former Celtic midfielder captaining the side.

In January Australia will take part in the final qualifying round for the Olympics in Brazil with three countries progressing from a 16 team tournament in Qatar. In their qualifying group Australia will meet UAE, Jordan and Vietnam.
