Tommy Wright lashes out at disrespectful Warbo

|

Money in FootballTommy Wright has slammed Mark Warburton for a disrespectful campaign to unsettle Michael O’Halloran.

Over the last ten days the St Johnstone boss has had to deal with constant speculation that the attacking midfielder is on his way to Ibrox.

St Johnstone have turned down two derisory bids for O’Halloran with former city trader Warbo keen to talk up transfer activity without naming names.

With the Ibrox side living month to month on crisis loans from mystery men in Hong Kong it’s more likely that the Championship promotion chasers will be selling rather than buying during the January transfer window with Dave King’s war-chest still untouched.

Hitting out yesterday at the saga Wright said: “Look, if we had the money I would be trying to go and take one of Mark Warburton’s best players.

Would he value their better players at the level they seem to value Michael at? No, he wouldn’t – and arguably Michael is playing at a higher level.

My chairman hasn’t discussed figures with me but he will have a valuation in mind and if that isn’t met Michael will remain a St Johnstone player.”

It’s believed that Sevco’s bid for O’Halloran offered £100,000 up front with the promise of staged payments involving reaching the last 16 of the Champions League.

With a £2.5m going concern warning in their audited accounts Sevco are in need of at least another £1m to see out the season. The 2015 accounts did not include the £5m repaid to Sports Direct.

  • jas says:

They’re in need of a reality check, the problem is, reality has never been the thing down Sevco way.

Surprised by Wrights comments….There is NO argument, O’Halloran IS playing at a higher level than Sevco.

As regards offers….a players is only worth what a club is willing to bid, he should offer £5-10k for Waghorn & some other nonentity. Or make the details public and show them up – would only need to do it once to ensure they don’t come back with a similar ridiculous slightly improved offer

The huns don’t do repayment on loans (replaced with another loan)
The huns don’t do paying fines (£250,000)
The huns don’t do proper bids ( unsettling players in the press)
The huns don’t do paying taxes.
The huns don’t do, having enough finance till the end of the season.
The huns don’t do living within their means.

By the time Sevco reach the last 16 in the C L the price for a Warburtons loaf will be a £100000

  • joe mccormack says:

Whoever is doing the negotiations is providing a few laughs along the way.

Add ons for last 16 ???? qualification is an absolute belter……..one might think that they are hoping that the bids are turned down.

King’s lack of investment is shining through though many of the Rangers fans are still blind to their leaders failed promises.

Good on Tommy Wright calling out Warburton, peanuts he described their offer for O’Halloran.

Now that those funds are freed up can we expect protracted negotiations to bring the Accrington Stanley Galacticos to Govan?

Level 5 will be promoting this as a matter of choice when of course it’s nothing of the kind.

Who is heading up the Rangers transfer negotiations, King, Murray, Robertson, Warburton, McParland, all of them?

It’s a shambles, but highly amusing all the same.

  • Frank McGaaaarvey says:

“Michael O’Halloran is arguably playing at a higher level than Rangers”.

No, Wrighty, tell it like it is. There’s nothing ‘arguably’ about it, he IS playing at a higher level. A full league above the new club. Simples.
