Leigh Griffiths is the world’s top scorer in 2016 with an incredible EIGHT goals from just 290 minutes of action.

The on form striker appeared at half time against Partick Thistle on January 2 and scored the only goal of the game as the match seemed to be heading for a 0-0 draw.

Next up Griffiths was off to Stranraer where he scored twice in the 3-0 Scottish Cup double, a feat which he repeated away to Dundee United on Friday night.

Against Hamilton the striker scored a hat-trick in 21 minutes before resting his shooting boots for Saturday’s match with St Johnstone.

Incredibly not one of those goals has been from the penalty spot.

Taking to twitter this morning the 27 goal striker said: “Not a bad Tuesday night in paradise. On another night it could’ve been 8 or 9 #27 .”

Speaking after watching his side go six points ahead of Aberdeen Ronny Deila said: “It was a fantastic night, a very good performance, we scored a lot of goals and could have scored more so I am very pleased with the boys.

“We deserved eight and we could have had much more, we had so many more chances. You always want games like this and I am very pleased.

“It is always hard to keep up the tempo and intensity when you are 3-0 up after 10 minutes but we did that very well.

“We looked sharp. I have seen it in training that we have looked better and better and today you could see what kind of tempo we can play at if we play at our best.

“We have kept in going since June 20 and since Christmas we had some weeks with training and rest and now you see more energy in the team.”
