Fortunately for James Tavernier, Daizen Maeda never made the shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year.
The Ibrox skipper was in the company of Matt O’Riley yesterday as the four candidates spoke with the media and posed for pictures promoting the Awards Dinner.
A week ago it looked like Tavernier wouldn’t have to face Maeda again this season but since Brendan Rodgers spoke at a Q and A session with Celtic investors fresh news has emerged.
News spread fast that Celtic’s Japanese winger was making a remarkable recovery, for many fans the next logical step was to think of the impact on the World’s Greatest Ever Defender.
Very interesting photo.

The next stage for Maeda will be getting pictured in training, that is expected to emerge on Friday followed by a media conference with Brendan Rodgers.
At 1.45pm on Saturday the Celtic team will be announced to face Hearts, a win against Steven Naismith’s side will then set up an epic Glasgow Derby with Maeda v Tavernier at the centre of it.

Tav looks like he can see maeda running at him from the distance

Quite apt really. O’Riley has a firm grip whereas it’s slipping through Taverniers finger tips.
They both know how the big story will end.
