James Tavernier has thanked his team-mates for winning him penalties!
The Ibrox skipper made the confession after picking up his club’s top scorer award at a ceremony on Sunday night.
A clip of the interview surfaced on Twitter from Tam Sellic, like many I assumed that it was the result of some clever editing but the real thing was uploaded in a club interview with Tavernier.
Strangely the full interview doesn’t mention the word disappointed but it looks like the former Wigan ace was being interviewed after a relaxing evening with team-mates that probably involved alcohol.

As well as help from his team-mates Scottish referees have played a huge role in Tavernier’s freakish scoring exploits, recently he took penalties in four successive SPFL matches, all of them awarded when his team was trailing or the score was level.
While Tavernier has been knocking goals in at an incredible level, defensively he has been involved in some equally strange runs.
Since Crawford Allan took charge of refereeing at the SFA Tavpen and his team-mates have been involved in runs of 64 and 75 SPFL matches without conceding a penalty.
Later today the SFA will announce the officials for Sunday’s visit from Kilmarnock. Willie Collum is likely to be elsewhere with Alan Muir, John Beaton or David Dickinson expected to get the match against Derek McInnes’ side.

Quite something to think that we have had a right up n down season and far from being our best, and yet even the pattern of assistance isn’t enough for them to be ahead…..just how bad are they without all the late levellers or winners from the pen spot?
