Fiacre Kelleher is loving life in ‘the men’s game’ and looking forward to a trip to Ibrox.

Within a week of joining Peterhead on loan the centre half has helped his new club to a win over Dundee, taken part in a dramatic penalty shoot out win over Dumbarton (despite missing his own penalty) and found his new side drawn against Sevco in the BetFred Cup.

Last weekend Kelleher captained Celtic’s Development side in the NI SuperCup against Everton but is relishing the prospect of playing against older, time-served opponents.

I’ve been playing with the development side at Celtic and that (the Dundee game) was my first real introduction to the men’s game,” he told The Evening Express. “I thought I handled it well enough and I want to kick on from there.

To play at Celtic, you need to be decent on the ball, so I’ve always had that part to my game.

I now want to get some other parts right and improve my heading and defending crosses, and you can only learn them in the man’s game.

Playing in the development squad is a bit easier because there aren’t many people my height or as strong as me, so it’ll be good experience for me.”

On Saturday at Alloa Peterhead found themselves losing 3-1 down at Dumbarton and losing out on a place in the last 16 but battled back to take the tie to a penalty shoot out.

A loss on penalties would have put East Fife through to the last 16 but after 10 penalties each Peterhead emerged on top and were drawn away to Sevco in Sunday’s second round draw.
