The Celtic Colts made a big impression last night as they beat Annan 5-1 in the Irn Bru Cup at Cappielow.
Probably the most encouraging sign from the match was the range of players that impressed, this isn’t a team built around one or two individuals.
Picking up on last season’s undefeated 26 match title winning performance the young hoops were way too strong for the League Two side who had lost 2-0 at Ibrox a fortnight ago to Mark Warburton’s Galacticos.
Goalscorers Jack Aitchison and Aidan Nesbitt attracted plenty of attention and compliments as did Calvin Miller with his assists. In defence Jamie McCart and Anthony Ralston took the step from Barcelona at the Aviva to Annan at Cappielow in their stride.
I honestly thought all Celts impressed, obv some more than others,
with the forwards tending to catch the eye more. https://t.co/O3S9C1YyRV— CharlieBhoy (@CGibso23) August 3, 2016

@videocelts Probably Miller for the quality of his cross balls, great energy shown by the team, and good to see PJ Crossan get a goal too..

McIntyre’s side can now look forward to tomorrow’s second round draw which will bring in League One clubs such as Stranraer and Peterhead.
While Celtic were hitting the goal trail there was less fun for the Colt sides of St Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Inverness Caley Thistle and Dundee who were all knocked out at the first hurdle.
The draw for the second round will be made at Hampden on Thursday with the matches being played on August 16 and 17.
