Davie Provan believes that Brendan Rodgers has a major decision to make over his defensive partnership to face Sevco today.

Kolo Toure was a key signing for the new Celtic boss but was caught out twice against Borussia Monchengladbach with the Germans cashing in to take full points.

Rodgers trust in the 35-year-old seems unstinting and was more than justified by an incredible display away to Hapoel Beer Sheva that delivered Champions League football after a three year absence.

Toure has been used sparingly in his Celtic career but appears to be a first pick when it comes to the bigger matches.

Provan has watched the Ivorian closely throughout his Premiership days and feels that there is always an element of risk in his game.

Explaining his views in The Sun, the Sky Sports pundit claims: “Toure is an accident waiting to happen. The big fella has been good for a blunder throughout his career.

If he gets the nod over Jozo Simunovic today and has another howler, the fallout will land at Brendan’s feet.

Elsewhere I expect Patrick Roberts to start. The Manchester City kid was terrific when he came on in midweek.

Leigh Griffiths has floated the idea of Celtic going with two strikers and you can bet Brendan has given it some thought. At Liverpool he often played a midfield diamond to accommodate two up front.

Starting with three at the back would also allow him to pair Griff with Moussa Dembele but my money is on Dembele playing up alone with Sinclair and Roberts either side.

In the other dressing room, Warburton has to find a way of winning against a stronger Celtic side. Light Blues punters won’t be complaining if he parks the bus and nicks the game on the counter. It doesn’t have to be an oil painting. Just ask Jose.”

Simunovic and Erik Sviatchenko started together in the SPFL matches against Dundee and Motherwell as Toure was rested with the Gladbach match in mind.

Rodgers praised Toure for taking responsibility for the mistakes against the Germans and put up a strong case for the defender.

Already though in his short Celtic career the Irishman has shown a ruthless streak with the team news at 1.15 today eagerly awaited.
