Matt O’Riley’s focus in on winning trophies and the Champions League, not mid-table battles in the EPL.

Six months on from leaving MK Dons life could hardly be going any better for the midfielder with an even bigger period about to open up.

Before Christmas O’Riley is hoping to be involved in the Champions League and World Cup Finals as further vindication for his move to Celtic after quitting Fulham for League One MK Dons.

Leicester City are believed to be interested in offering an EPL passport to the midfielder but for now his focus is on kicking on from a very impressive start to his Celtic career.

Probably a few targets. First of all just to improve my level, naturally. I thought I did well last season but I still think I can do a lot more. This season I really want to kick on for myself and hopefully push for other things in terms of cups.

(Getting into the Denmark squad) of course is a target. I want to be there so I’m going to do my best to do that. Champions League exposure helps a little bit with that. As long as I do my best, hopefully I’ve got a good chance.

Competition for places in the Celtic midfield has just got tougher with Aaron Mooy arriving with similar ambitions to the Danish u-21 internationalist.

O’Riley has been in top form in Celtic’s pre-season friendlies, with the new season just over a week away it looks like it will be a case of Callum McGregor, O’Riley and A N Other in Ange Postecoglou’s midfield.
