Two goal Cillian Sheridan helped CSKA Sofia to a much needed 2-0 win over Montana last night.

The points lift CSKA into eighth place in the league, seven points behind leaders Lokomotiv Sofia but importantly gives the side a confidence boost ahead of Thursday’s Europa League tie at home to Porto.

While there was an element of luck to his 58th minute opener, taking a cute deflection over the goalkeeper from a tight angle, there was no denying the class of his second goal in injury time.

Running onto a long pass down the right flank the former Celt stepped inside a defender then tucked the ball low past the advancing goalkeeper with his left foot as if it was the most natural thing in the world to do.

CSKA started their Europa League campaign losing 1-0 away to Besiktas due to a last minute goal.

On the same night Porto beat Rapid Vienna, without Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, 3-0  in possibly the most unappealing European match not to involve bus parking.
