John Hartson will kick-off John Kennedy’s Testimonial Weekend with a supporters rally in Ballybofey Donegal followed by an attempt on the world record huddle!
Hartson will be joined in Jackson’s Hotel by Neil Lennon and John Kennedy who will fly in straight after Celtic’s SPL fixture with Inverness Caley Thistle earlier in the day.
The rally, on Saturday November 27, will be open to all Celtic fans with tickets costing just 15 euros per person.
The following day Celtic will play Finn Harps at Finn Park with Lennon bringing the full Celtic first team over to Fonegal. Finn Harps are managed by James Gallagher who spent three seasons with Celtic in the late 1990s.
Before the action gets underway the organisers of the testimonial will attempt to break the world huddle record.
Hartson, Lennon and Kennedy will be part of the huddle just as they were six years ago in Barcelona when Celtic knocked Barcelona out of the UEFA Cup.
Kennedy’s career was virtually ended one week later when he was the victim of an outrageous assault from Ionel Ganea of Romania on his international debut.
The defender did fight his way back to play for Celtic again but after picking up another knee injury while on loan to Norwich decided to retire rather than undergo further surgery.
Celtic will host a testimonial match for Kennedy who is currently on the club’s scouting staff.
