Rogne's red regret

|

Thomas Rogne was the only Celt to be disappointed by Saturday’s 9-0 demolition of Aberdeen.

Whilst his team-mates chased a tenth goal and fought for the match ball the young defender watched the goalfest from the stand after his first half red card.

Rogne has shown plenty of potential in his brief Celtic outings but a nightmare run of injuries have prevented him from establishing a place in defence.

The young Norwegian will now miss Wednesday’s trip to Hearts due to suspension but has no complaints about referee Alan Muir’s decision to show him a red card.

He admitted: “I was the last man and I pulled down the Aberdeen player, so I couldn’t complain when the ref sent me off. The manager saw I was depressed. I knew I’d be out for the next game and would have a hard job getting back in.

“But he told me to keep my chin up, that it was only one match and that I’d be back.

“What made it even worse was I’d just come back from a long time out.

“I was feeling good and the boss gave me a chance – now I’m suspended.

“It’s my first senior red card, but it happens to most players at some time. I’ll learn from it and keep working.”

Neil Lennon has to decide whether to replace Rogne with Jos Hooiveld or Glenn Loovens for the trip to Tynecastle.
