Majstorovic- I'm on track

|

Daniel MajstorovicDaniel Majstorovic is ready to return to action against Rangers on Sunday.

The Swede resumed training today and in his own words is ‘on track’ for Sunday’s Scottish Cup showdown.

Majstorovic has missed Celtic’s last three matches due to a hamstring strain with Charlie Mulgrew proving to be a more than able deputy.

Being able to add the experience of Majstorovic to a relatively young squad would be a big boost for Neil Lennon with the defender timing his return with Sunday in mind.

He told channel 67: “I’m getting better and I’m back on track. I had some good training today and after Friday and Saturday we’ll see what is going to happen for Sunday

“I’m not used to this, it’s my first injury for a long time, it’s not something that I’ve thought about. I’m feeling good now, I’m back on track and we just need to be careful not to take any risks.

“This will be a very important game for us, it’s one of our targets for the season. I played in big derbies in Greece but in those matches it was home fans only because it is too dangerous, that’s a big difference at Celtic-Rangers games.”

Majstorovic formed a formidable partnership with Thomas Rogne the last time that Celtic went to Ibrox but both players missed the midweek win at Aberdeen.

That gave Mark Wilson and Mulgrew the chance to show their worth with Majstorovic impressed by the performance of the makeshift defensive pairing.

“He added: “Charlie Mulgrew and Mark Wilson don’t play regularly in central defence so I was a little bit wary but they played really well and that was fantastic.

“The team has been playing really well, we’ve been solid, that’s the way we have to be and we need to keep that going.”
