Kapo makes Qatar move

|

Olivier Kapo Celtic newsOlivier Kapo has got over his Celtic ‘heart-break’ by signing for Al-Ahli of Qatar.

The 30-year-old former Wigan and Birmingham winger made two brief appearances as a substitute for Celtic during December before having his contract terminated.

Kapo responded to that decision angrily and claimed that the decision had been made over Neil Lennon’s head which was shot down by the Celtic boss.

Asked about Kapo’s claims Lennon said: “That’s rubbish, absolute nonsense. It was my decision that we couldn’t give him a contract based on 51 minutes- not on the money he was looking for.

“But we were prepared to extend his deal for the rest of the season until such time as he had proved his fitness. There’s no doubting Olivier’s talent but he didn’t do enough to warrant what he wanted in wages.”

Al-Ahli have given Kapo a five month deal before deciding whether he is worth a longer contract- which sounds very similar to the agreement he got from Celtic in November.

Kapo is expected to make his debut for Al-Ahli against Al-Gharafa on Saturday.
