Mario Barotelli Celtic newsManchester City striker Mario Balotelli is allergic to grass!

The £30m striker was substituted in the second half of City’s 2-0 defeat to Dinamo Kiev after suffering a half-time allergic attack.

Balotelli was late to come out for the second half and appeared to be rubbing his face during the second half before being replaced after 57 minutes by Carlos Tevez.

City boss Roberto Mancini explained: “Mario had an allergy, I don’t know what, his face was swollen, I don’t know why.

“He wanted to play in the second half but he had this problem 10 seconds before coming out.

“I came out a minute before the players and I didn’t see Mario. He then said he could play but his face was swollen.”

During the half time break the striker was given antihistamine jabs to try to solve the problem but they had little effect.
