Paul George is the Irish hero- again

|

Paul George Celtic newsCeltic youngster Paul George scored another last gasp equaliser to give Ireland a 1-1 draw with Greece this afternoon.

The result gives Ireland a fighting chance of qualifying for the u-17 European Championships in May as they go into the final group match against Latvia on Monday.

Hosts Greece and Denmark are at the top of the group with four points going into their final match against each other. A draw in that match and a win for Ireland over Latvia would see three teams finish on five points and calculators brought into use!

Greece opened the scoring in the fourth minute through Nilcos Gianitsanis but with just three minutes left to play George equalised in his first start for Ireland.

“What counts is the team and I am proud of our attitude on the pitch,” the goalscorer said. “We don’t give up and we fight until the end.”

George’s Celtic team-mates face Livingston in the semi-final of the SFA Youth Cup on Sunday at Celtic Park with the match kicking-off at 1pm and played to a finish.
