Cha Du-Ri boost for Celtic title hopes

|

Cha Du Ri Celtic newsCha Du-Ri is set to return to action in time for the run in to the SPL title.

The Korean defender checked in at Glasgow Airport this morning and is likely to play at some stage in tomorrow’s friendly against Athletico Bilbao.

Cha hasn’t played for Celtic this year with his last match a scoring contribution to a 2-0 win over St Johnstone in December before departing for the Asian Cup.

An ankle injury picked up at the Asian Cup looked like ending his season but after initial fears about a lengthy lay off he is ready to compete with Mark Wilson for the right-back berth.

Shaun Maloney also joined the squad for the trip to the Basque county with the Celtic squad also featuring a number of players from the youth squad including u-17 internationalists Joe Chalmers and John Herron.

Striker Greig Spence is included in the squad after making a 15 minute appearance against Santos Laguna on Tuesday.

Spence was injured in a pre-season match at Stenhousemuir but the return of last season’s top scorer is a big boost for the u-19 side ahead of their crucial match away to Rangers on April 12.
