Celtic’s u-19 side are looking to book a Hampden date with Rangers when they face Livingston in today’s SFA Youth Cup Final (kick-off 1pm Celtic Park).

The Ibrox side defeated Hibs 1-0 yesterday to reach the final with Celtic looking to do likewise today in a repeat of last season’s semi-final.

Last season’s final was a memorable occasion for everyone in the Celtic youth set up as goals from Sean Fitzharris and Filip Twardzik earned Celtic the trophy in front of a lively Celtic support.

Twardzik will be in the side this afternoon with coach Stevie Frail hoping that Celtic Park can become a regular venue for some of his players.

“Playing at Celtic Park is a special event for everyone,” Frail admitted. “They go along at every chance they get to watch the first team and our target is to get as many of our players through to play in front of 60,000 fans as often as possible.

“Last season some of them played against Livingston at this stage and most of them played against Liverpool in a friendly earlier in the season.

“You see a rise in performance on those occasions and that will effect Livingston as well.

“We’ve had them watched on numerous occasions this season, they are a good side and we’ll need to make sure that we’re at our best to progress to the final.

“In the last round they won away to Aberdeen and that tells you all you need to know about them.

“We’ve told the players about Livingston, they know from last season that they are a good side so nothing will surprise them.

“There’s a big schedule of matches between now and the end of the season and we want to be going for the double again.

“It’s neck and neck between ourselves and Rangers in the league. The best way to develop players is from winning prizes and that’s what we’re aiming for.”
