Craig Brown vows to go to war with the SFA

|

Veteran Aberdeen boss Craig Brown has gone to war with the SFA.

Yesterday Brown was ordered to appear before the SFA’s Disciplinary Committee to explain his bust-up with Motherwell owner John Boyle.

The ugly confrontation brought shame on the Scottish game with the incident beamed throughout the world just like the recent flare up between Ally McCoist and Neil Lennon.

While the Celtic boss apologised to his directors and accepted his four match ban Brown has shown no remorse and is ready to fight any punishment coming his way.

“I’ve been at three World Cups and three European Championships with Scotland and there have been many incidents of every description on and off the field,” he explained.

“What happened at Fir Park was an inconsequential incident and I don’t expect to hear anything more about it – but if I do I’ll contest it like anybody would.

“If the SFA ask me to speak to them then I would but, while I’m maybe naive, I don’t think it’s necessary. I don’t know why I should face a ban. I shook hands with the Motherwell chairman and subsequently it wasn’t a very pleasant situation.

“I haven’t had any contact with anyone at Motherwell since. I didn’t do a thing, in my opinion, to merit anything and while it’s the SFA’s prerogative to take action I would fight it.”

Brown is expected to get a two match touchline ban for his part in the incident but there is no precedent for punishing a club chairman for a trackside flare up.

Chick Young and James Traynor go head-to-head.
