Walter Smith rules out Lee McCulloch return

|

Walter Smith Celtic newsRangers boss Walter Smith has virtually ruled Lee McCulloch out of Sunday’s match with Celtic.

The midfielder has been out of action for the last two months and was expected to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing an operation to remove a cyst from his knee.

Rangers had hoped to have McCulloch involved against Hamilton Accies a fortnight ago but that was ruled out after excess fluid was discovered in the joint.

McCulloch has been unable to play in any bounce games with Smith planning his squad without the former Wigan striker as well as Jamie Ness.

The Rangers boss told the club website: “We’ve had injuries for a while now and Lee and Jamie are two who have been touch and go in terms of coming back into the squad.

“I don’t think they will make this weekend’s game. Jamie maybe has a chance but I would say he is very doubtful.”
