Hearts open up title race as Celtic youth team take the high road

|

Steve Frail Celtic newsHearts stormed to the top of the SPL table today with a 4-1 win over Rangers at Murray Park.

The result lifts the Edinburgh side one point ahead of Rangers with a game more played.

Celtic face Inverness Caley Thistle tomorrow knowing that a win would take them above Rangers on goal difference and a point behind Hearts with two games in hand.

Rangers have to visit Hearts in three weeks time while Celtic’s final match of the campaign is at home to Hearts.

A 1.30pm kick at Inverness Clach’s Grant Street Park tomorrow should allow some supporters to make the second half after the first team action at the Tulloch Stadium.

Celtic have five matches scheduled over the next fortnight including a vital trip to face Rangers at Murray Park on April 12.

That schedule should make or break Celtic’s title hopes with only a 2-2 draw at home to Aberdeen denying Stevie Frails side a 100% record since the turn of the year.

Caley Thistle are coached by former Celtic youth Scott Kellagher but are sitting at the bottom of the table with just 12 points from 17 matches.

In February the two sides met at Lennoxtown with Celtic winning 3-0 although it took a late double from substitute Liam Gormley to clinch the points.
