World Cup legend Lother Matthaus got very shirty as he fell out with Al Jazeera before their coverage of the Bayern Munich-Inter Milan match in the Champions League.
The controversial broadcaster has a budget to attract the biggest names in football to their coverage and provide Premiership and Champions League coverage throughout the the Middle East and beyond.
Matthaus is clearly used to be being pampered and looked after and didn’t find the broadcasters hospitality upto the standards that he’s become used to.
Ten minutes before the broadcast was due to start the former Inter Milan and Bayern skipper was told that he wasn’t required due to the lack of a German interpretor.
In very good English the vetran German star let Al Jazeera know exactly what he thought of his wasted flight from Munich!
While not containing the same colourful language used by Walter Smith on Chic Young almost 20 years ago there is no mistaking Matthaus’ anger at the incident.
Matthaus is currently the manager of the Bulgarian national side.
