Michael Kelly Celtic newsBirmingham City have appointed 18-year-old Ryan Yeung, son of owner Carsten, to the club’s board of directors.

Celtic were under the control of the White and Kelly dynasties for almost a century but never quite kept it in the family to the extent of the Yeung’s

Ryan, named after the Manchester United winger who made his debut before the Birmingham director was born, is expected to play an active role in the running of the club while his father faces charges of money laundering in Hong Kong.

Birmingham’s new director is believed to be the youngest director ever at a professional club with little known about the 18-year-old’s background although it is believed that he was schooled in London.

If Carsten Yeung is found guilty of the charges he could be jailed for up to 14 years by the Hong Kong authorities.

The appointment of Ryan and the departure of Michael Wiseman means that the all of the Birmingham board comes from the Far East.

Before his resignation and move to Aston Villa Alex McLeish was regularly at odds with the Birmingham board over concerns about their funding of the club.
