Twitter Celtic NewsMick McCarthy has warned his Wolves players to keep team matters private and not plaster them over twitter.

The former hoops defender will get a warm welcome when he returns to Celtic Park tonight but while he’s very much the modern manager social networking isn’t quite his thing.

Tweets, twitter and twats aren’t his favourite subject with the Wolves players warned in no uncertain terms about what is acceptable online.

Newcastle hit Luis Enrique with a £100,000 fine- two weeks wages- for criticising the club with McCarthy taking a similar approach to Alan Pardew.

“Players are going to get themselves into trouble over Twitter,” the Wolves boss predicted. “I can’t ban it and I’m not going to try but they have to be careful what they say on it about the club and its policies.

“If they put a team selection up, which I’m sure some disgruntled numpty will at some stage, they will be in trouble. Then I think they can get fined.

“It is forbidden and I think it’s unforgivable anyway to make it known just because they are not in the team.

“We are in the process of educating them, having a media law firm come in and speak to the players about it. Having pictures of yourself misbehaving as a 16-year-old is OK until you become a famous footballer and that picture is still there and is there forever.”

Despite McCarthy’s warning Celtic’s youth team players have been joining twitter in droves with Rhys Williamson, Tony Watt, Mo Yaqub, Jackson Irvine, Darnell Fisher, Curtis Jones, Glenn Daniels and Jack Kirwin almost capable of forming a Celtic Twitter XI.
