Celtic fans newsNeil Lennon has declared Celtic’s three match tour of Australia success- on and off the park.

A Scott Brown goal against Melbourne Victory brought the tour to an end with Lennon’s squad arriving back in Glasgow tomorrow.

New signings Kelvin Wilson and Adam Matthews played in all three matches with the Celtic boss pleased by the standard of opposition that his side faced.

Lennon said: “The tour has been a great success from our point of view, we’ve taken something from each of the three games. The game against Melbourne was the best of our tour.

“We were superb in the second half and I am delighted with the condition of the players at this stage of the pre-season.

We’ve played some great football at times and off the field it has been a great success too. We’ve made some good friends along the way and it is something we’d like to do again.”

Hoops fans were able to meet the players at open training sessions at all three venues with Lennon delighted to give something back to the far flung fans.

He added: “I’m delighted we have been able to put on such a show for the fans because many of them won’t have had the chance to see the team in the flesh.

“Most have to sacrifice getting up at 4am in the morning to see us play. We have a great following in Australia and it was important we left our mark on them.

“I have been pleased with the style of play and hopefully people in Australia will be talking about this Celtic side for a long time to come. We now go back to Scotland feeling very positive about the season ahead.”

On his twitter account today Lennon added: “Great time in Oz ..big thank you to all our great fans here and thanks to Lou Sticca for making it all possible

“Great atmosphere in Melbourne last night felt like a proper game…stadium was fantastic.”

Was at Neil’s question and answer night at the Celtic Club and thought he came over very well. Dont think there is anyone more committed to the Celtic cause than Neil. He is a real credit to Celtic.

Can’t ever see him get the credit he deserves from the Scottish media.
Everywhere he goes he is respectful to them and thry to him. Funny how the only one in Oz to “have a go” at him was Ian Ferguson.
You can take the Hun out of Scotland…..
