Twitter Celtic NewsCharlie Mulgrew and Adam Matthews were the players to catch the eye of the Twitter Celts tonight as Neil Lennon’s side lost 2-0 to Wolves.

A first half free-kick from Jamie O’Hara and an own goal from substitute Filip Twardzik gave the Premiership side the win with Lennon resting all eleven players that had started in the win over Hibs on Sunday.

Matthews and Victor Wanyama were given their home debits with the former Cardiff defender impressing in both full back positions.

After the final whistle CelticNewsAtTen tweeted: ‘Adam Matthews looked fantastic good on the ball fast not as tall as i thought he was but looks good.’

Turning to Mulgrew he added: ‘charlie mulgrew was outstanding tonight absolutely outstanding.’

The ever enthusiastic ahmebertiee quickly picked up on Matthews impressive start to that match tweeting: ‘Also, Matthews having a great game so far.’

Mulgrew was re-united with Daniel Majstorovic after both players missed out against Hibs and showed his usual composure on the ball and firmness in the tackle.

CopenhagenCelt noted ‘Wanyama plays himself into the game after a poor start IMO. Mulgrew looking much more like a player than Wolves ever could imagined.’

Multi-tasking former Celtic youth team player GrantGall91 asked: ‘Does any1 know Kilmarnock Starting 11 & bench tonight? Getting beat 1-0. Also watching Celtic game the now and Barca Bayern #FootballMad.’

Wolves opened the scoring through Jamie O’Hara with pablo567 absolving Stripe Pletikosa from blame tweeting: ‘1-0 Wolves. Good free kick from the edge of the box. Not much Pletikosa could do about it.’

ChrisLostBhoy saw the goal differently: ‘Did the goalie give him a big enough target there?’

Early in the second half ahmebertiee was starting to get anxious; ‘Oh come on, how many chances do you need.’

In a bid to change the game Lennon made the popular move of replacing Shaun Maloney with Kris Commons with CelticTalk’s reaction typical of most: ‘Maloney off For Commons, not been impressed by Maloney.

It’ll soon be decision time over big Stripe but he has a fan in pablo567: ‘He hasn’t exactly been tested tonight, but what I can say about Pletikosa is that his distribution of the ball is excellent.’

Sunstitite Filip Twardzik’s night changed in the space of five minutes with ahmebertiee stating: ‘Commons shot saved. Great play by Twardzik,’ but moments later it was: ‘oh dear…’ from Kirsty_CFC1888 as the substitute ran the ball into his own net.

pablo567’s interest was about to end: ‘I’m off to the pub. Pletikosa just made a good save from a one on one. Here comes Samaras…’

CopenhagenCelt was another unimpressed tweeting: ‘Daryl Murphy did nothing today. We’re desperataly needing a new striker. Lacny don’t look like the answer. Mphela didn’t touch the ball much.’

On a more positive note he did add: ‘Not putting much into this match. No need to have a go at some of the players. Mulgrew, Forrest and Matthews did very well though.’

CelticStatscouk had seen it all before: As warned, another home friendly without a win. These games are purely to tick a match off the season books. Not worth a bet or a worry!’

krys1888 claimed: ‘Matthews, Wanyama and Twardzik showed some good touches, but all three have more to learn. We badly need central defenders and strikers.’
