Celtic new bhoy Mohammed Bangura was the Sierra Leone hero with the winning goal against Egypt today- from the penalty spot!
The win was greeted by ecstatic scenes in Freetown as the home side kept alive their hopes of qualifying for the finals of the African Nations Cup which will be held in January.
Sierra Leone are now level on points with Group 7 leaders South Africa who face Niger tomorrow away from home tomorrow. Only the group winners will qualify for the finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea with South Africa hosting Sierra Leone in the final qualifier next month.
With their own qualifications ended Egypt fielded their u-21 side and scored an own goal early in the first half before Mohsen Maruwan levelled the scores shortly before half-time.
However in the final minute Bangura netted from the penalty spot to keep alive Sierra Leone’s hopes of qualifying for the finals.
