Rhys Williamson Celtic newsRhys Williamson enjoyed his first Celtic goal so much he’d like to experience an action replay tomorrow against Motherwell.

Last Saturday the quietly spoken Londoner opened the scoring against Dundee United with a brilliantly executed 30 yard drive that gave the visiting keeper no chance of stopping.

After the spotlight of playing against Barcelona in the Next Gen Series Celtic’s youth side are focusing on league business with tomorrow’s match quickly followed by a visit to high flying Hearts.

Williamson has settled quickly since his summer move from Crystal Palace but knows that he has to keep producing the goods in he’s to stay in John Kennedy’s side.

“It’s difficult to come into the side but I’ve got to take my chances and do my best,” he explained. “The manager believes in me, he tells me to believe in myself and to produce on the park.

“Getting my first goal last week was a great feeling, in training I had been working on my finishing and it was great to see it pay off.

“After playing against Barcelona the coaches were looking for our reaction against Dundee United. We scored good goals and didn’t concede anything which was pleasing.

“We know that we have to be at our best in every game. At Aberdeen we found out how hard it can be, there are times when we have to grind out results.

“There’s a huge difference between playing for Celtic and Crystal Palace. The whole set up is different, I’d never have got to play in anything like the Next Gen Series if I hadn’t moved to Celtic.”

Celtic face Motherwell tomorrow at Lennoxtown with a 12 noon kick-off. With Hearts not playing Inverness Caley Thistle till Tuesday a win tomorrow will put Celtic top of the league before next week’s visit to the Hearts Training Academy
