Badr El Kaddouri Morocco newsBadr el Kaddouri helped Morocco qualify for the finals of the African Nations Cup by beating Tanzania 3-1 but whether he will be a Celtic player when the tournament kicks off remains to be seen.

The tournament will be held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea between January 21 and February 12 by which time Emilio Izaguirre should be Celtic’s first choice left-back.

Celtic face St Mirren and Hearts during that period but if Izaguirre is back to full fitness el Kaddouri is likely to return to Dinamo Kiev at the end of his loan spell.

Morocco went into their final match in Group D knowing that all four nations could qualify but with their fate largely in their own hands.

An early header from Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh put Morocco in front but Tanzinai equalised before the half time break. Another Premiership player, QPR’s Adel Taarabt, restored Morocco’s lead with a second half free kick before a late strike from M’Bark Boussoufa sealed qualification.

After securing qualification Morocco coach Eric Gerets said: “Now our goal is to play to win the Nations Cup. A program of preparation was put in place to achieve this goal.

“We created many chances, especially during the first half hour, then the players have engaged in a little show, while the Tanzanians took the opportunity to score a goal.

“In the end, discipline, solidarity and desire to please the Moroccan public, which showed the players that made ??the difference in that game.”
