Colin Calderwood Hibs newsHibs have sacked Colin Calderwood as manager- just eight days after getting a 0-0 draw against Celtic.

Yesterday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Dunfermline and fans protest afterwards proved to be the final straw for the Hibs board who face an uncomfortable AGM on Tuesday.

Before the new season had kicked-off Hibs turned down approaches from Nottingham Forest and Birmingham who wanted to speak to Calderwood about their vacant assistant manager’s post.

On the eve of last year’s AGM Yogi Hughes left the Edinburgh side with John Collins another former Celt to have been in charge of the club recently.

In August Hearts sacked Jim Jefferies with Paolo Sergio taking on the job of selecting the players that Vladimir Romanov wants played.

Hibs are currently sitting a point off bottom place in the SPL with just 13 points from 14 games. In 49 games in charge Calderwood managed just 12 wins with his most famous success a 3-0 win over Rangers at Ibrox last November.

Calderwood appointed Derek Adams as his assistant shortly after taking over from Hughes but Adams returned to Ross County during the summer.

Last month former Hearts assistant Billy Brown moved to Easter Road as Calderwood’s assistant but it’s unlikely that Brown will be considered as a possible successor to the former Spurs and Scotland defender.
