Euan ‘spot-kick’ Norris will be in charge of Rangers match on Saturday at home to St Johnstone.
New Saints boss Steve Lomas would be well advised to warn his players about any penalty box contact when Norris is about.
Earlier this season Inverness Caley boss Terry Butcher was furious at Norris’ handling of their home match with Rangers when Norris awarded two penalty kicks to the visitors.
If Butcher had did his homework he’d have known that in the two Rangers games that Norris handled last season Walter Smith’s side were awarded three penalty kicks.
Last November at Kilmarnock two penalty awards from Norris helped Rangers to a 3-2 win at Kilmarnock while in April one penalty was enough to see Rangers past St Mirren with a 2-1 scoreline.
Saturday’s appointment is only the sixth SPL match that Norris has been given with Celtic still to face the penalty happy referee.
Celtic’s match at Inverness on Saturday will be refereed by Stevie O’Reilly who was in charge of the end of season match between the two clubs.
For some reason the SFA seem to enjoy appointing the same referee as last season to take charge of Celtic matches, already this season Craig Thomson has been in charge of Celtic’s trips to Rangers and Hearts having also handled those fixtures after last season’s split.

After his woeful performance at the Motherwell Celtic game Charlie Richmond has been excused from action this week and given the less demanding task of being fourth official at Saturday’s St Mirren v Dunfermline match which will be refereed by Crawford Allan.

We’ve got a lot to prove away to ITC. Have we got the skill ? Have we got the bottle ? Can NL get his tactics right ? Let’s hope so.
hey joe if u check the statistics youll see celtic had more penalties than anybody last season so lets stop the paranoia its really boring
m8, I’m not gonna try and answer for Joe but the article is about the same referees being appointed for matches at the same venues for the same opposition.
In my amateur opinion, there is no need to research the number of penalties given for an article of this nature.
Anything to say about spot kick Norris or are you just on to peddle your crap.
TicToc.
Ridiculous, it is not how many are awarded it is when and if they are deserved, Rangers coincidently get “debateable” penalties in close games ALWAYS.
HEY TRUEBLUE
If you check the statistics you’ll see Celtic got the most penalties in all comps in scotland cos we played more games than all teams in scotland, and YOUR mob got more penalties in the comp that matters. THE LEAGUE TITLE.
FACT!
so GTF HHYNWA
it always seems strange when a supporter of a team spends so much time on another teams website?!
what a sad little man, you also left out the word “LEGITIMATE”
Until we get pro referees, we’ll have the same discussion every season.
True Blue- It’s NOT how many pens you get,BUT when you get them ! How many pens were Celtic refused ? Referees are seldom “kind” to Celtic-just watch the “honest mistakes” video-THAT’S beyond embarassing ! The Bougherra and Lafferty get away with everything at Ibrox courtesy of Dougie McDonald.
When was the last time Rangers dropped points as a result of an “honest Mistake” by a referee.
If Rangers struggle against St Johnstone- odds on the Rangers pen (Jelevic dive) ? 1-10 about right ?.
Good question, genuinely would love to know when the last time a referees honest mistake has cost rangers points. Anyone know the answer?
I think it was Pittodrie August 2008. It is referred to along with the free-kick we got at Love St in 2009, as “Things even themselves out….”
brixtonbhoy;…. Only 1/10….??
I’ll have ten grand on that …thanks….
as for our bluenose visitor…..
ignore him…it’s the best way to deal with his kind.
