John Kennedy Celtic newsJohn Kennedy has ordered his side to concentrate on St Johnstone before their minds wander to Thursday’s match away to Barcelona.

Back-to-back wins over Manchester City has raised the young hoops game to a new level this season with Paul George, Marcus Fraser and Dylan McGeough all getting some first team minutes.

All three played against St Johnstone earlier this season when Celtic had to work hard for a 3-1 win with Kennedy ex[ecting much the same today when he takes his side to Stirling University to face the Saints.

“St Johnstone made it tough for us at Lennoxtown and are having a good season,” the Celtic coach warned. “Like every game we have to go in with the right attitutude and focus 100% on this match.

“The players have applied themselves perfectly this season but as coaches we have to ensure that there is absolutely no signs of complacency.

“Obviously there is a big game coming up against Barcelona that the boys are bound to be thinking about but we’ve got great competition for places and the players know that they can’t let their standards slip.

“A couple of our players are away with the first team and that gives others a chance to come in and demonstrate what they are capable of.

“We’re on a good run at the moment, we’ve had a good solid week on the training ground and are looking forward to the match.”
