Sone Aluko divesDunfermline manager Jim McIntyre was furious at the award of a penalty for Rangers at Ibrox today as Sone Aluko hit the deck without any contact from a Dunferlmine player.

Steve Conroy- refereeing his first Rangers game in over a year- pointed to the penalty spot without hesitation with Nikita Jelavic converting to put Rangers two goals in front.

Joe Cardle pulled a goal back for the visitors two minutes later but with the game ending 2-1 Conroy’s honest mistake was the difference between the teams.

“It’s never a penalty in a month of Sundays,” McIntyre told state broadcaster Radio Scotland. “The referee’s in a great position. It’s just not a penalty. There’s no contact at all.

“It’s a disgrace of a decision, there’s no contact at all, there’s three players round him and it’s a dive. It’s as simple as that.

“He (Aluko) is obviously trying to get his team into a lead. I’m not going to blame Aluko, the bottom line is the referee’s there to spot these things and he’s got to do his job and he didn’t do it today.

“For the second goal, the ref has had a nightmare. I’ve just watched it on video and it was never a penalty. It was a really, really poor decision.

“I don’t want to make too much of the referee but there were a couple of poor decisions.”

I’m not surprised that Aluko has picked up on whats expected since he pulled on the Rangers shirt. After all the guy he’s replacing is unsurpassed in the ‘diving’ department. Naismith had it down to a fine art. Of course the ref has to play his part and whatever else we might say about Steve Conroy you couldn’t accuse him of not being ‘fair’ to Rangers. Just another ‘honest mistake.’ Still they accumulate over the season and can often provide the winning margin.

Aluko has had a couple of weeks training with rangers, he will have been learning how to play the rangers way. Replacement for Naismith is clearly an understatement! HH

Not having seen it paranoia tells me its O’Reilly balancing up the ICT sending off, my sensible head tells me its just another inept decision by our Officials. I’m looking forward to seeing on Sportscene tomorrow. Cant agree with McIntryre saying he doesn’t blame Aluko, that’s guff, its yet another in the long long line of serial divers coming out of Ibrox. I’ll wait with interest to see if the SFA retrospective action will be taken just like, ahem, Gordon Smith promised a few years back, I wonder if he’ll still be of that opinion when he see’s this one, if it is indeed a dive but given just about every pundit says it was then that’ll do for me.

I didn’t see it but was listening to some of it on the radio, I’m pretty sure there was mention of Dunfermline players indicating for the referee to consult with the linesman, safe to say he didn’t bother.

Edit my post above, read Conroy and thought O’Reilly!

Ah the honest mistakes return this is the reason we need a clear out of all scottish referees you couldn’t trust these guys to go to the shops for a loaf.
If the Scottish game isn’t in the gutter enough we’ve got refs who are either bias or terrified of what the Mankie Scottish media will say about them.
The sooner the shame are gone all the better for Scottish football and Scottish society.

The Guardian has a Lennon “REF RAGE” article running today!

No mention of Terry Butcher and his regular attacks on referees, however the wonderful reporter does manage to refer to the situation surrounding lying and bigotted refs and Lennon/Celtic as “TOXIC”, it then goes on to describe the situation with Lennons attempted murder, bombs and bullets as “BLEAK”!!! Yep, that sounds about right for the scottish media, priorities certainly in order.

  • Joe says:

    And this surprises us because?????.????????.

  • Stevie says:

Don’t buy any Scottish Mankie rag all our news is on the Internet we have many wonderful Celtic sites.

  • Tam says:

    Cheats.

They will do everything in their power to ensure Fat Ally & co win the title.

    Corrupt to their rotten core.

As we close the gaps the honest mistakes will increase, have no doubt about that.
