James Keatings back on the goal trail

Almost un-noticed during Celtic’s 3-2 win over St Johnstone James Keatings returned to the scoresheet.

The appearances as trialists of Ingolfur Sigurdsson and Rabiu Ibrahim captured most attention alongwith recent signing Mikael Lustig appearing at right-back

A serious cruciate injury suffered in April against Hamilton Accies brought Keatings scoring exploits to a halt last season but in his third match since regaining fitness his instinct seemed back to it’s best.

Keats equalised for Celtic before half-time stooping to head home a Dylan McGeough cross from the right then perfectly timed a half volley from Sigurdsson’s accurate cross from the left to put Celtic in front.

A fully fit Keatings would be a great loan signing for any SPL club but Neil Lennon is well aware of the 20-year-old’s ability.

This morning Celtic have been linked with a move for Bolton’s Kevin Davies with the Celtic boss going on record to state that he wants to bring in a striker during the transfer window.

If Lennon gets to bring someone in it’s likely that Keatings will go out on loan, if Celtic are unable to add a striker I don’t think Lennon will have any hesitation in throwing Keats in if any of his established strikers are injured.
