John Kennedy Celtic newsCeltic’s youth side set the sat nav for St Andrews University today and a 1pm clash with Dundee United.

John Kennedy’s side are trailing leaders Hearts by seven points with two games in hand knowing that there is no margin for error with nine games left to play having already faced the Edinburgh side twice.

Since the winter break the hoops have beaten St Mirren, Inverness Caley Thistle and Aberdeen with Kennedy determined to keep that winning run going today.

“It’s good to get a bit of momentum and to be playing games again without interruptions,” he admitted. “We hope that continues.

“The boys are fresh and lively and will take that into the Dundee United match. They are ticking along nicely and a few of them were down at Huddersfield with the development squad.

“We beat Dundee United quite comfortably at Barrowfield but they have improved a lot since then although they have quite a young team.

“They are gelling together and deserve their place in the semis of the SFA Youth Cup.

“Going away from home is always a tough test but we’ll be fully prepared for the match.”

Leonardo Fasan will continue in goals for the hoops with Robbie Thomson out injured

The young Italian made his first appearance at u-19 level last week away to Aberdeen with Kennedy happy to see Fasan get his chance.

He added: “Robbie is always a big character about the dressing room but Leonardo has a bit of precense as well and is well respected in the squad.

“He did well at Aberdeen and has been very patient waiting for his opportunity.

“There are a lot of second choice goalkeepers that sit for seasons on end without playing but Leonardo has his opportunity and we’re very confident in him.”
