John Kennedy Celtic news

Celtic can move to within touching distance of the u-19 title if they beat Dunfermline tomorrow, kick-off 1pm at Stirling University.

A win for John Kennedy’s side would take them to the top of the table for the first time since November.

Celtic have won eight straight SPL matches since losing 2-1 to Hearts at Barrowfield, cutting into the Jambos advantage as they chase a third successive title.

It’s a fortnight since Celtic’s last outing, a 5-2 win away to Motherwell, with Kennedy looking forward to the final stretch of the season.

We didn’t have any matches last week but that’s given us a bit of time to get everyone freshened up for the final part of the season,” the hoops coach explained.

There’s four league matches and possibly two cup ties to look forward to and the boys are looking forward to facing Dunfermline.

Over the last few months we’ve been trying to keep the pressure on Hearts, now we’ve got the chance to go above them in the league.

It’s a big incentive but we’ll prepare for the match the same way as we always do. The players have worked hard to get into this position and know what the prize is.

We got a great performance out of them away to Motherwell and that’s the standard that we’ve got to aim for. We need the same energy levels and enthusiasm.

Dunfermline have made it difficult for us already this season and showed that they are a good side by beating Hearts recently.

We’ll concentrate on our own game and look to take the game to Dunfermline.

Tony Watt is on a high after scoring four against Motherwell and we’ll be looking for him to do some damage in the penalty box.

Callum McGregor is on a good scoring run and will be looking to keep that going.

We can’t look any further forward than Dunfermline tomorrow, if we can take the points it’ll put us in a great position.”

On Saturday Hearts play their final match of the season away to Hibs, on Sunday Celtic face St Mirren in the semi-final of the SFA Youth Cup with a 1pm kick-off at New St Mirren Park.

Celtic’s remaining matches are against Rangers away on April 7, Hibs at home on April 14 and Rangers at home on April 28.
