Jos Hooiveld Southampton newsCeltic are due a £500,000 transfer bonus after Jos Hooiveld helped Southampton clinch promotion back to the Premiership.

The Dutch defender scored the final goal in the 4-0 win over Coventry in front of a crowd of 32,363.

The win sealed promotion for Nigel Adkins side for the second season running leaving West Ham with a play off slot to show for their efforts.

Hooiveld initially went on loan to St Mary’s but the deal became permanent with the Dutchmen scoring an impressive 7 goals in 39 Championship appearances.

After the match delighted Saints boss Nigel Adkins said: “We’ve put a lot of hard work in and a lot of hours but we’ve achieved something special this season.

“We achieved something special last season and I suppose it’s that drive to do well. Everyone works so hard at this football club and it’s great to see the smiles and delight on the supporters’ faces.

“It’s been a nervy week for them but it’s been well worth it. Every plaudit that goes their way they richly deserve because they’ve worked hard for it.

“I need to let it all soak in but it’s been very, very special. I’d like to think I’m going to have a glass of champagne tonight because that’s what you should do if you win.”

Another former Celt, Danny Fox, appeared in all but one of Southampton’s 46 Championship matches.

Cardiff City, managed by former Celt Malky Mackay, clinched their play-off spot with a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace and face West Ham in the semi-final of the play-offs.

Maybe Celtic could use this bonus to purchase Rangers?

Any suggestions what we would do with the change though?
That still leaves 499,999 quid to use up.

Certainly puts paid to the standard of the Championship being better than the SPL to bed, he looked bloody awful with us.

Good luck to him and delighted to get a wee bonus
